THE PROCEDURE CENTER
at
The Hubbard Clinic
The new Procedure Center at The Hubbard Clinic safely performs many procedures in the office for men and women. Performing minimally invasive procedures in the office verses a traditional hospital or surgery center setting has several advantages.

- Patient Comfort. The Hubbard Clinic performs procedures under monitored IV sedation administered by a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA). Most patients report no pain associated with the procedure. All the procedures offered by The Hubbard Clinic are FDA approved with minimal recovery time.
- Convenience. The procedures are performed in a center located within The Hubbard Clinic. The patient is surrounded by the familiar, friendly, and experienced staff prior to, during, and after the procedure. The soothing and inviting environment calms the patient and their loved ones. Usually the entire procedure process takes less than 2 ½ hours
- Risk of Infection. The risk of infection is greatly reduced in an office setting as opposed to the hospital setting where the patient is in close proximity to sick people. Also, the patient is quickly stabilized and released after the procedure into their home environment to recover.
- Financial Liability. The patient financial responsibility is drastically less for procedures performed in the office verses the hospital. Many insurance carriers only charge an office co-payment. As a courtesy, the clinic contacts your insurance carrier and notifies you of the patient liability prior to the procedure.
Procedures for Men
Men The Hubbard Clinic offers procedures for the treatment of an enlarged prostate, or benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH). The prostate naturally starts to enlarge as men age. Men can start to experience the symptoms of an enlarged prostate in their early forties. Symptoms include: frequent and urgent need to urinate, getting up multiple times during the night to urinate, a weak urine stream and inability to start urination. When symptoms start to negatively affect a patients quality of life then numerous treatment options are available, including the following procedures.
- TUNA. Transurethral Needle Ablation (TUNA) procedure works best for prostate glands under 40 grams in size and prostate length under 4.5 cm. The treatment lasts 18-25 minutes and a catheter is used for 1-3 days after the procedure.
- MICROWAVE. Transurethral Microwave Therapy (TUMT) procedure works best for prostate glands that are larger than 40 grams in size and prostate length 4 cm or more. The actual treatment lasts about 30 minutes and there is catheter use for 3-7 days after the procedure.
- Surgical Resection of Bladder Neck Tissue. This procedure can be performed in conjunction with the TUNA or TUM-T. A simple procedure to remove excess tissue from the bladder neck. This procedure greatly reduces post-op catheter time after the TUNA and TUMT.
Procedures for WoMen
A variety of urological and gynecological procedures are offered for women.
- TVT Sling. Transvaginal Tensionless Tape (TVT) Sling procedure is a perfect solution for women who suffer from stress urinary incontinence, or urinary leakage that occurs went a women laughs, coughs, or exercises. John G. Hubbard, MD has successfully performed over 1300 TVT procedures with remarkable results. Of those, approximately 80% have seen their symptoms disappear completely, and over 99% have experienced significant improvement in their symptoms. TVT is an outpatient procedure which takes only about 25 minutes. It involves sedation and local anesthesia, with minimal post-op discomfort. Patients can usually walk around the block the day after surgery, and drive a car three days after that. The TVT Sling is now being offered as an in-office procedure for many commercial insurance carriers.
- ESSURE Permanent ‘No-Incision’ Sterilization. Freedom from birth control is finally here. The Essure permanent ‘no-incision’ sterilization is for women who are satisfied with their current family size. Using the newest technology, a small spring is inserted into each fallopian tube. The patient returns three months later for a confirmation test to verify that the fallopian tube has been completely sealed by natural scar tissue. Recovery time is very minimal, with patients returning to normal activities quickly.
- Uterine Ablation. A period that last for seven or more days or bleeding so heavy during your period that hourly protection change is required are symptoms of menorrhagia, or a heavy period. 1 in 5 women suffer from this disorder, and many treatment options are available for this condition, including uterine ablation. The uterine ablation is a choice to a traditional hysterectomy. The ablation is a no incision one time treatment that treats the endometrium thickening. Most women return to normal activities the next day
- Testing for the Diagnosis of Interstitial Cystitis. Interstitial Cystitis (IC) is a chronic bladder syndrome that is usually characterized by excessive urinary urgency and frequency day and night, pressure above the pubic area, pelvic pain and pain during or after sexual intercourse. The most typical symptom of IC is pelvic pain. The course of this disease is usually marked by flare-ups and remissions. An estimated one million Americans are affected by symptoms of IC. The diagnosis of IC is often one of exclusion – other conditions such as chronic bacterial infection, urethritis, vulvar vestibulitis, endometriosis and bacterial prostatitis must first be ruled out. There is not one single test that will positively diagnose IC. Presumptive diagnosis may be made based on a thorough patient history, pelvic exam, bladder diary, potassium sensitivity testing or urodynamics. Confirmation diagnosis is based on cystoscopy examination with biopsy (to rule out an allergic component) under monitored IV sedation. .
